PANAJI: The state’s first and only electric-cum-solar ferry, commissioned almost a year ago but lying unused due to a lack of trained personnel, has turned into a home for rats, which have been feasting on the boat’s wiring harnesses.
For over a week now, work has been on to repair these harnesses, but river navigation minister Subhash Phal Dessai insists the damage done by the rats is “not major”.
“Wires have been chewed by rats. We face similar issues at home, when rats damage electrical wiring. The repair work of the solar ferry boat is underway…, they just have to replace or re-connect the wires. The work won’t cost us much,” he told TOI.
