Among the discussions, one topic that garnered significant attention was the previously considered possibility of Bumrah relocating to Canada.Bumrah disclosed that he and his family had contemplated moving to Canada as a potential backup plan for his career.
“You wanted to go to Canada and set up a new life there?” Sanjana asked Bumrah.
“Every boy dreams of making it big and tries to be a cricketer. You go to any street and there will be five players who want to play for India, so you need to have a backup plan. My relative lives there (Canada) so we thought that I would finish my education here and then move,” Bumrah said.
Bumrah also shared that the plan ultimately fell through due to his mother’s decision to reconsider it.
“At first we had decided to travel as a family, but my mum had become a school principal, so she didn’t want to go because it is a different place to be in, different cultures. So I am very happy and very lucky that things worked out for me, otherwise I would’ve tried to play for the Canadian team and do something there. Glad it worked out here. I am playing for the Indian team and Mumbai Indians,” Bumrah added.
Bumrah recently became the third-highest leading wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians and the third-fastest to reach the 150-wicket mark in the Indian Premier League.
He made the record trackers rewrite the history books as he reached the 150-wicket mark in the IPL in just 124 matches.
MI’s iconic pacer, Lasith Malinga, holds the record as he accomplished the feat in just 105 matches. Star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is in the second spot as he achieved the mark in 118 matches.
