Witnessing foggy conditions, the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) recently decided to reduce the speed limit on the Yamuna Expressway to 75 kmph, starting from December 15, 2023, for two months. This speed limit will apply to all light motor vehicles, including cars and two-wheelers. However, the speed limit for buses and trucks will be 60 kmph.
The standard speed limit on the Yamuna Expressway is ordinarily set at 100 kmph. However, anticipating dense fog in the upcoming winter weeks, the authorities have opted to reduce the speed limit as a precautionary measure to prevent accidents. Previously, the 165-km long expressway experienced incidents of accidents and pile-ups. The revised speed limit is slated to be enforced for a minimum duration of two months, said the authority in a letter released on Wednesday.
