A woman arrested amid a homicide probe into a fatal crash has been released without charge as police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Stacey Bridges, 47, from Victoria’s southeast was found injured at the scene of a motorcycle crash in Yarram about 3pm on Tuesday.

Despite efforts from emergency services the critically injured man died at the scene on Yarram-Morwell Road — about 200 kilometres southeast of Melbourne.

Police launched a homicide probe into the incident after determining some of his injuries were “inconsistent” with occurring in a crash.

Later the same day a 50-year-old woman from Yarram handed herself into to police and was arrested at the local station about 9.30pm.

The following day a Victoria Police spokeswoman said she was “still assisting police” with their investigation.

On Thursday afternoon, police revealed the woman had been released without charge.

“The 50-year-old woman has now been released pending further enquiries,” a spokeswoman said.

“The investigation remains ongoing and there are no further updates at this time.”
