Most of these leaders are from the AIADMK, a former ally of the BJP in Tamil Nadu. The joining ceremony was attended by Union ministers Rajeev Chandrasekhar and L Murugan, as well as the state BJP president K Annamalai.
K Annamalai, welcoming the new members, highlighted their wealth of experience and their desire to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is seeking a third term in office. He also took a dig at the ruling DMK and its main rival AIADMK, suggesting that Tamil Nadu is shifting towards the BJP.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar emphasized the significance of this large-scale joining, which he believes reflects the popularity of Modi in Tamil Nadu, a state where the BJP has traditionally not been a major force. Chandrasekhar stated that Modi has projected the BJP’s victory in 370 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with the NDA alliance crossing 400 seats.
He expressed confidence that many of these new seats will come from Tamil Nadu. Chandrasekhar further asserted that the people of India want the continuation of the transformation that has taken place in the last 10 years.
