MUMBAI: In a setback to rebel NCP leader Ajit Pawar, after the Sharad Pawar-led party raised serious concern on social media, his X (formerly Twitter) handle has been suspended for violation of rules. The account ‘NCP speaks 1’ was created on X for conveying important announcements.
The account was representing deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s group. The Sharad Pawar faction had alleged that the account NCP speaks 1 was a copy of the original NCP account, @NCP speaks.
At a juncture when a war is on between the factions led by the two Maratha leaders over party symbol and name, it appears now a fresh tussle is on the cards over X handle. A leader of the Ajit Pawar faction said, “An appropriate reply has been submitted to X, as a result, most probably, the account will be restored tonight itself.”
State NCP president Sunil Tatkare said that his party has submitted a comprehensive application to the Election Commission of India for allotment of symbol and party name, a similar representation will be submitted to X for restoring the handle. “We have staked claim on the party name ‘NCP’ and symbol ‘watch’. Similarly, we will submit relevant documents to X. We are sure after examining the documents, our handle will be restored today itself,” Tatkare said.
Meanwhile, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP has also applied for a new handle ‘MahaNCPspeaks‘
Ajit Pawar, Tatkare and Praful Patel had a marathon meeting on Wednesday to take stock of the current political situation and progress in developmental works. “We will meet every Tuesday in the party office, to discuss plans for the expansion of the party and expedite developmental works across the state,” Tatkare said.
