‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ director Laxman Utekar is now working on a period drama based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj (son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj). The film is titled ‘Chhawa’ and the team will start the film’s first schedule in the middle of October, aiming to complete the film by April 2024.
With a very interesting star cast that includes Vicky Kaushal playing the titular role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Rashmika Mandanna playing Yesubai Bhonsale, the other prominent character from the film is Aurangzeb.A little birdie informs ETimes that the makers have plans to rope inAnil Kapoor to play this very significant role.
“The team has already approached Anil Kapoor to play Aurangzeb, they are yet to sign the dotted lines. If things fall in place, Anil Kapoor will surely lock horns with Vicky Kaushal in the film,” says the source.
“Currently, the team is preparing for the film, as they will soon start the shoot in the coming days. Rashmika is doing great as Yesubai, and she has already gotten a hold of the character,” the source added.
We also hear that the film’s shoot will take place in Mumbai, Vai, Bhor, Jaipur and some other outskirts of Maharashtra.
ETimes tried to reach Anil Kapoor but there was no response until the time of filing the story, while all our efforts to reach Laxman Utekar were futile.

Vicky Kaushal’s most recent appearance was in The Great Indian Family. Presently, he is fully prepared to take on a role in Meghna Gulzar’s Sam Bahadur, scheduled for release by the end of this year. Alongside Vicky, the movie features Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra. In addition to Sam Bahadur, Vicky Kaushal will also be starring in Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki and Mere Mehboob Mere Sanam.

Rashmika Mandanna’s latest project was Mission Majnu alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Currently, the actress is gearing up for the launch of Animal, where she shares the screen with Ranbir Kapoor. The anticipated release date for Animal is December 1, 2023.
