MUMBAI: Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday that CM Eknath Shinde will complete his full tenure by getting elected through the MLC route even in case of his disqualification as an MLA.
The assembly speaker is conducting the disqualification proceedings. In an interview with a Marathi news channel, Fadnavis said it is unlikely that such a situation (disqualification) would arise. He said he was confident that Shinde would not get disqualified as he has a strong case.
Fadnavis said, “Shinde will complete his full term. If someone had understood the court and the Election Commission’s orders, it is very clear that he has a strong case and that there is no question of his disqualification.” He also said that NCP leader Ajit Pawar was not promised CM’s chair when he along with other leaders joined hands with the Sena-BJP government.
While reacting to his four-year-old video that was posted on BJP‘s official handle a few days ago where he repeatedly said that he would be back at the helm in the state again, Fadnavis said that there was no hidden message behind the post and that it was randomly posted. Fadnavis said during the interview that no major change would happen by posting it on social media.
After a rap from the SC, Speaker Rahul Narwekar is set to submit a revised schedule to the SC indicating that he is likely to conclude the Shiv Sena MLAs disqualification proceedings by February 2024.
