BHOPAL: A doctor was booked on Saturday for allegedly confining and raping a 19-year-old woman, who had sought medical attention from the accused, for about a fortnight. The accused doctor is on the run.
Police said the accused, identified as Deepak Nayak, is a doctor in the Gandhi Medical College. The survivor, who hails from Chhindwara, came in contact with the accused two months back regarding some problem in her neck.The accused started talking to her over the phone and later called her to Bhopal for her medical reports. Here he confined the woman to his home and raped her between October 15 and October 28.
Police said that the accused doctor, around 30-year-old, is married and also a father. His wife and kid had gone to their native place in Odisha and he was alone here.
The woman stated that the accused also took her to a temple and even staged a marriage with her. He kept her confined at his home and threatened her but the survivor somehow managed to escape. She then reported the incident at Mahila Thana on Saturday, the police said, adding that the accused was on the run.
The victim’s identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault
