Police have seized more than $2m in illicit drugs and charged six people in a major operation targeting an alleged drug trafficking plot spanning multiple states.

Joint investigations from the Australian Federal Police (AFP), Queensland Police and NSW Police Force into the alleged trafficking of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin between the two states led to officers conducting 15 search warrants across the two states on Tuesday.

Queensland Police officers arrested a Broadbeach man, 33, and a Mermaid Waters man, 32, after they allegedly organised to meet a person they believed would purchase dangerous drugs.

“Instead, the men were met by detectives and specialist police, who seized approximately 360 grams of heroin and 150 grams of cocaine, along with a quantity of cash and several mobile phones,” an AFP spokesman said.

After they were arrested in a Carrara carpark, search warrants were executed on residences at Mermaid Waters, Broadbeach, Southport and Mermaid Beach along with a storage facility at Surfers Paradise and vehicle at Varsity Lakes.

More than $64,500 in cash, quantities of heroin, steroids, prescription medication, cocaine, marijuana and drug utensils were allegedly discovered at the properties.

The Broadbeach man was charged with nine drug related offences and the Mermaid Waters man was hit with 12 drug charges, both of the men’s charges included trafficking and possessing dangerous drugs.

Officers in NSW allegedly seized 256g of cannabis, 29g of MDMA and 12.49g of methamphetamine during their searches.

A South Murwillumbah man, 26, was charged with 63 offences, including 47 counts of supplying prohibited drugs and three counts of supplying a prohibited drug to a child.

A South Murwillumbah woman, 25, was charged with 20 drug related offences, including four counts of supplying a prohibited drug.

A 24-year-old Dum Dum man was charged with 11 offences including six counts of supplying a prohibited drugs and two counts of stalking/intimidating with intent to cause harm.

A 55-year-old Tweed Heads man was given eight charges including drug supply and drug possession.
