SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has been admitted to AIIMS in New Delhi after being transferred from a hospital in Shimla where he was receiving treatment for a stomach infection, according to sources. He arrived at AIIMS at around 11.20 am and is currently being evaluated by a team of doctors led by Dr Pramod Garg, a professor in the Department of Gastroenterology.The sources have confirmed that the chief minister is suffering from mild to moderateacute pancreatitis but is in a stable condition.
Officials at the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) had previously stated that the chief minister’s condition was stable and all his reports were normal. They had conducted various tests since Wednesday night, which revealed a stomach infection. As a result, he was flown to AIIMS in New Delhi to seek a second opinion from the doctors there, as confirmed by Dr Rahul Rao, the medical superintendent of IGMCH.
The Chief Minister was hospitalized on Wednesday night after experiencing abdominal pain. Naresh Chauhan, the Principal Media Advisor to the CM, mentioned that Sukhu had been undertaking extensive travel in recent days and may have consumed something outside that led to the infection.
Initially, doctors at the IGMC had advised him to rest and kept him under observation.
