NEW DELHI: The player auction for the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be held in Dubai on December 19, with each franchise to have an increased purse compared to last season, according to ESPNcricinfo.
It will be the first instance of an IPL auction being held overseas. The Indian team will be on its tour of South Africa during that time and is scheduled to play the second ODI of the tour on the same date.
As per the report, the purse for each franchise has been increased to Rs 100 crore, which is a raise of Rs 5 crore compared to last season, while the teams have been given the deadline of November 15 to release their lists of retained and released players.
The money spent by each franchise from their purse in the auction will “depend on the value of players they release, in addition to their unspent purse from the 2023 auction”, the report added.

Chennai Super Kings: Rs 1.5 crore
Mumbai Indians: Rs 0.05 crore
