KANPUR: Two persons, including an elderly woman and her granddaughter, died and many others were injured when a car rammed into a crowd that was celebrating a local festival near Rind river in Bhaura village of Kanpur Dehat district late on Saturday.
Rura police stationin-charge Kapil Dubey said two persons died on the spot, while the injured were immediately taken to a nearby hospital from where they were referred to a hospital in Kanpur.Those who died in the incident were identified as Ram Pyari (60), wife of Rambali Yadav, and their granddaughter Saumya, 4.
The injured, identified as Savita and Ram Kali, were admitted to a nearby hospital from where they were referred to a hospital in Kanpur for better treatment . The car driver fled the spot along with the vehicle. “Following registration of an FIR, we are raiding places to arrest the car driver, who is on the run. The bodies have been handed to the family members after post-mortem. Further investigation into the case is ongoing,” the station in-charge adde
