Police have flocked to a small country town in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region where a gunman is on the run following a shooting.

Officers were tipped off to a shooting incident about 8.40am on Thursday in Kellerberrin, about 205km east of Perth.

Initial reports suggest a man drove up to a grain silo, fired a gun and fled the scene.

One person was injured and had to be taken to hospital via ambulance.

WA Police is urging Kellerberrin residents to remain inside as a large number of police officers descend on the Wheatbelt, hunting the gunman.

They’re working to determine the make and model of the car he was spotted driving at the time.

Anyone with information relating to the shooting is being urged to call triple-0 immediately.

Police say they will provide more information when it becomes available.
