Popular Malayalam art director Sabu Pravadas breathed his last on Friday, October 27. His unfortunate demise came after a 10-day battle following a road accident (October 18) that led to his hospitalization at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.

Sabu Pravadas was a luminary in the Malayalam film industry, known for his exceptional work as an art director.

His illustrious career included collaborations on numerous superhit movies, most notably the iconic action film ‘Rajavinte Makan,’ starring the legendary actor Mohanlal. His artistic vision also left an indelible mark on films like ‘Manu Uncle’ and ‘Run Baby Run,’ where his creative prowess transformed ordinary sets into cinematic masterpieces.

Beyond his contributions to art direction, Sabu Pravadas received the State Award for Best Film Book for his work titled ‘Navendrajalakam.’ His passion for cinema extended into the literary realm, and he was also recognized for his design work at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Throughout his illustrious career, Sabu Pravadas collaborated with esteemed directors, including Thampi Kannanthanam, Dennis Joseph, C. Radhakrishnan, PG Vishwambharan, Joshi, and Sibi Malayil. His influence extended far and wide, with his artistic touch gracing films like ‘Ottayadippathakal,’ ‘Pathram,’ ‘Lelam,’ ‘Amrutham,’ and ‘Paarvathy Parinayam,’ to name just a few.
Meanwhile, Sabu Pravadas’ previous outing was with the Mohanlal starrer thriller film ‘Run Baby Run’, which was directed by Joshi. The movie, which also featured actress Amala Paul in the lead, turned out to be a superhit in 2012.
