This seismic event followed a substantial earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter Scale that had shaken Nepal late on Saturday. Subsequently, there were additional aftershocks, with a magnitude of 3.3 on Saturday afternoon, adding to the difficulties faced by the affected population and testing the region’s resilience.
Earlier in the day, Nepal’s Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, visited the affected areas to assess the situation and acknowledge the extensive damage.
In response, the government has mobilized the Nepal Army, Nepali Sentinel, and the Armed Police Force to conduct rescue operations using helicopters. Health workers are also being rapidly dispatched, armed with essential medical supplies sourced from nearby districts.

Hundreds of people are injured, thousands of houses have been destroyed, and our government is engaged in relief work. We have deployed the Nepali Army, Nepali Sentinel. The Armed Police Force has been tasked with transporting all the injured to hospitals for rescue via helicopters.”
India, Nepal’s neighboring country, has offered support during this challenging period. Following the initial earthquake, India released an emergency contact number for Indians in Nepal who require urgent assistance.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal posted, “Alert Emergency Contact Number for Indians requiring assistance due to the recent earthquake in Nepal: +977-9851316807 MEA India.”
