HYDERABAD: Medak MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy was stabbed on Monday afternoon by a man, while he was campaigning in Telangana’s Dubbak assembly constituency for the upcoming election.

The local BRS cadre nabbed Raju and attacked the accused with sticks and hands.

Prabhakar, who is the official Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party’s Dubbak assembly constituency candidate, was campaigning in Surampalli village when one Raju came close to Prabhakar and stabbed him reportedly with a knife.
The sitting MP, who suffered injury in his stomach, was already surrounded by his party cadre, when the incident took place.
On seeing the attack, his gunmen immediately pushed the accused down.
While Prabhakar Reddy was immediately shifted into his car to take him to hospital, the local BRS cadre who were near the MP nabbed Raju and attacked the accused with sticks and hands after pushing him on to the ground.
Prabhakar Reddy was shifted to a Gajwel government hospital, where he is presently undergoing treatment.
After some cadres of BRS intervened, Raju was spared from further attack and he was then handed over to local police, who are probing him.
It is learned that an ID card was seized from Raju, who is suspected to be working for a social media channel.
Police are questioning Raju to know the motive of attempting to murder Prabhakar and if he has any political affiliations.
