KOZHIKODE: A fast-track Pocso court in Kerala’s Malappuram on Tuesday sentenced a 42-year-old man to 133 years of rigorous imprisonment for rape and sexual harassment of his daughters, who were 13 and 11 at the time of the crime. The sentences will run concurrently.
Special judge Ashraf A M also slapped a fine of Rs 8.8 lakh on the convict and directed that the money be given to the survivors.He separately directed the district legal services authority to compensate the survivors in accordance with govt rules.
In the first case involving the man raping his elder daughter on many occasions between Nov 2021 and Mar 2022, the court handed him a 123-year jail term and a fine of Rs 7 lakh.
The convict was sentenced to another 40 years of imprisonment under IPC sections 376 (3) and 5 (l), read with Section 6 (1) (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Pocso Act. He received a separate three-year term under Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act.
The other conviction involving sexual harassment of younger daughter on March 26, 2022, got him 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.8 lakh.
