NEW DELHI: Sachin Tendulkar‘s record tally of runs across World Cups seems insurmountable at least in this edition of the ICC World Cup, but there’s one record of Tendulkar that is within the reach of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
Tendulkar built a mountain of 2278 runs in 45 matches across the six editions of the 50-over World Cup he featured in since 1992, which is the most by any batsman in the tournament’s history.

Among the top Indian run-getters in World Cups, both Virat and Rohit are over a 1000 runs behind Tendulkar at No. 2 and 3 respectively, but the duo is close to the master blaster’s World Cup runs against Pakistan.

In five matches against Pakistan in the ODI World Cups, Tendulkar scored 313 runs at an average of 78.25. Though close, both Virat and Rohit need to hit a big century on Saturday to eclipse Tendulkar’s record.
