BAREILLY: Two days after a 60-year-old woman was shot dead over a property dispute, her 35-year-old son allegedly died by suicide by consuming poison in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district on Thursday night.
The incident occurred in Tarawwa village under the jurisdiction of the Milak police.
Naththo Devi, a widow, was killed by her brother-in-law Narayan Lal and his accomplices on Tuesday night.
The police had not yet apprehended the accused when Naththo Devi’s son, Nem Chand, consumed poison on Thursday.
He was rushed to a private hospital where he died during treatment later that night.
The dispute stemmed from a disagreement over ancestral property between Naththo Devi and her husband’s younger brother, Narayan Das.
On Tuesday night, Narayan, along with his friends Raghunandan Prasad and Gurmeet Singh, forcibly entered Devi’s house and shot her dead.
Nem Chand, being an eyewitness to the crime, had seen the accused fleeing from the scene and had subsequently filed a police complaint (FIR) against them.
Additional SP Sansaar Singh said, “We had earlier registered an FIR for murder and multiple police teams were deployed to nab the suspects. The exact reason for the suicide is yet to be determined.”
