Police have released CCTV footage of a man they believe can help with their inquiries in relation to an alleged assault at a renowned party strip.

The alleged assault took place on a Saturday night at Surfers Paradise in Queensland’s Gold Coast region, home to popular beaches and a thriving nightclub scene.

On September 2 at 9pm, a fight reportedly broke out on Orchid Ave between a group of men.

The police allege a 26-year-old man was seriously assaulted in the ruckus.

He was struck multiple times in the head by another man, police allege, and received treatment at Gold Coast University Hospital for a broken left jaw and fractured vertebrae.

On Friday, the police released CCTV footage of a man they believe can help with their inquiries.

The footage shows a young man with a clipped black beard in a black long-sleeved shirt and white pants.

“Police are appealing for anyone who may recognise the man or have any information that could help with the investigation to contact police,” the police said.

Investigations into the assault are continuing.
