BATHINDA: After Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and education minister Harjot Singh Bains, now sports minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer is all set to get married. He will tie the nuptial knot with Dr Gurveen Kaur, a radiologist from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, in Chandigarh on November 7 and the wedding reception will be held at Kararon village near Chandigarh the next day.
Meet Hayer from Barnala is a second-time MLA from Aam Aadmi Party. He has handled education department, and later was made sports, environment and mining minister. Meet Hayer, who is a sportsperson, was involved in the Punjab government’s Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan.
His fiancee Gurveen Kaur’s family migrated from West Punjab at the time of Partition and settled in Meerut. Her father, Bhupender Singh Bajwa is an office-bearer of the Indian Olympics Association and was the Chef De Mission of the Indian contingent in the just-concluded Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Apart from CM Mann and Bains, Sangrur MLA Narinder Kaur Bharaj, Fazilka MLA Narinderpal Singh Sawna and Baghapurana MLA Amritpal Singh Sukhanand (all from AAP) got married in the ongoing assembly. Party MLAs Baljinder Kaur, Rupinder Kaur Ruby and Pirmal Singh Khalsa had got married during the last assembly (2017-2022).
