PILIBHIT: Yusuf Ahmad (24), a staffer of a private bank in Aligarh, was beaten to death by robbers after they forced him to make an online transfer of Rs 98,000 from his account while he was returning home to his village in UP’s Pilibhit district on the night of October 21.
Seven suspects were arrested, police said on Thursday, reports Keshav Agarwal, after finding his decomposed body on Wednesday.The accused admitted that they had beaten the victim to death with sticks and bricks after accosting him and forcing him to make the online transfer from his account.

A 24-year-old employee of a private bank in Aligarh was beaten to death by robbers after they forced him to make an online transfer of Rs 98,000 from his account while he was returning home to his village in UP’s Pilibhit district. The crime took place on October 21 night. Police said on Thursday that seven people have now been arrested following a tip-off.
The decomposed body of victim Yusuf Ahmad of Gaybojh village was found near the Pilibhit-Madhotanda road under Sungarhi police jurisdiction around 6pm on Wednesday.
Additional superintendent of police Anil Kumar Yadav said Yusuf’s father, Maqsood Ahmad, filed a missing person report at Amaria police station when his son did not reach home on October 21 and his phone was found switched off.
After the body was found, Pilibhit superintendent of police Atul Kumar Sharma deployed three police teams to work out the case. The surveillance team then found that Yusuf had transferred money online to certain people. They then nabbed main accused Bharti Sanjiv, and the other arrests followed. All the accused are aged between 18 and 22 years, police said.
During questioning, the accused admitted they had beaten the victim to death with sticks and bricks, police said.
